CVS deals for January

When I was in CVS yesterday (burning all my extra care bucks!), I asked the store manager if the January extra care booklet was out yet. It was, but the prices aren’t valid yet (gotta wait until Jan. 1).

He gave me a booklet, and I’m going to list a few of the better-looking monthly deals:

-CVS toothbrush with tongue cleaner — pay $2.99, get $2.99 in ECB back. Limit 2.

I don’t know how long this sale is going on (either three days, or all week? anyone know?) but CVS-brand products are buy one, get the second half off. So, perhaps you could buy two toothbrushes, spend about $4.49 out of pocket, and get $5.98 in ECB back. Let me know if this works, anyone!

-Assorted Reach toothbrushes will earn $1 ECB, limit 2.

-Dial complete foaming hand soap 3-pack $6.99, get $2 ECB (I tried to find some online printable coupon for these, but had no luck). I like the foaming soaps because when they run low, you can add water to them and really extend the life of them. At about $2.33 each, it’s not bad, but not a good deal if you don’t need soap. Limit 5 (though who in the world needs 15 foaming soaps?)

-Johnson’s “softlotion” with “softwash” (so, 11-14 oz of lotion, 12 oz. of softwash. It looks like a bundled package) $5.97, get $2 ECB. $1 off printable coupon here. Limit 5.

If you need toothbrushes, lotion and bodywash, you could get the two CVS toothbrushes (for either $5.99 or $4.48 total, not sure); and the Johnson’s softlotion for $4.97 with your printable coupon.

That puts your total at $10.95 or $9.45, depending on how the toothbrush deal will go.

If the toothbrushes make your total $9.45, you’ll need an extra .55 purchase so you can use $2 off $10 purchase coupon. Grab a candy bar or something.

Out of pocket, you’ll spend about $8. You’ll get $7.98 in extra care bucks back, good on your next purchase. Don’t forget to give the cashier your extra care card before or during the transaction! You won’t get these deals without it.

Remember, it’s only a good deal if you actually need these products!

I just burned all $9.97 of my CVS extra care bucks. As in, I spent them all without getting extra care bucks back.

I’m totally fine with that.

My husband and I were in CVS today, there to buy a few items we needed. I was out of vitamins, he wanted some mints, I wanted a newspaper, and baby oil (side note: who knew that baby oil, when applied post-shower but before drying off can be such a great moisturizer? Oh, my mother-in-law did. Good tip!).

I bought CVS brand multivitamins for $5.99. This week, CVS brand items are buy one, get one 50 percent off. So, I bought two bottles that should last four months. In case you’re curious, I buy the children’s chewable kind. I don’t like swallowing pills, and I like the taste of the chewables. Win-win.

I didn’t have a $2 off $10 coupon with me, but it wasn’t worth the drive home to print one off.

Out of pocket, I spent about $5. No more extra care bucks for me.

But ya know what? I’m a-OK with that.

I didn’t need any of the products that generate extra care bucks this week (and there aren’t many). I didn’t want to buy a product simply so I could get the ECBs.

However, I DID need to buy some products for our home. It made sense to just go ahead and get them, saving about $10 off my total order thanks to the ECB.

I just want my CVS-ing to work for me, ya know?

I’ll likely still go to CVS, but probably not each week now. We have a well-stocked supply bin, and we won’t be running out of essentials any time soon. I’ll gradually stock it as needed, but working the deals in October was essentially all I needed to do to get a good start on my toiletry supplies.

$5 Tylenol rebate and deal

If your family is sick or if you’re out of Tylenol, you might be interested in this deal.

In the Valassis coupon insert (it will be in your Sunday paper on Dec. 16), you’ll see information about a $5 rebate plus a bunch of Tylenol coupons.

I have several $1 off coupons for various qualifying products that came in recent inserts. Some expire on Sunday, so be sure to check yours.

Here’s the rebate form.

The terms state that you’ll get a $5 rebate when you buy any three of the Tylenol, St. Joseph, Immodium, Pepcid, Mylanta, or Motrin products listed.The rebate excludes trial sizes, so I’d skip using the Tylenol vial 10-count at CVS for this deal, just in case.

Go here to print more $1 off Tylenol coupons.
Go here to print $1 off Pepcid coupons.
Go here to print $1 off Motrin coupons.
Go here to print $3 off Mylanta coupons.
Go here for a $5 off Imodium EZ chews coupon, or other $1 off coupons.

Anyway, here’s a scenario if you want to go to CVS, get three qualifying products:

Buy Tylenol Sinus Congestion & Pain 24-count at $5.99 (that’s what my CVS ad says). Use $1 off manufacturer’s coupon in Sunday’s paper, so that becomes $4.99 out of pocket.
Buy Tylenol Extra Strength 24-count at $4.99 (that’s how much it says it is on CVS.com; store prices may vary). Use a $1 off coupon to bring it to $3.99.
Motrin IB-24 count is $4.39, according to the CVS web site. Use a $1 off coupon to bring it to $3.39.

Your total could be as little as $10.17 (if you buy all Motrin’s with coupon) or possibly more or less, depending on your coupons and your store prices.

Use this $2 off $10 printable coupon to cut (the three Motrins) to $8.17 out of pocket.

Cut out your UPC labels, print off the rebate form and send in your receipts, and you’ll get $5 back, making it $3 (or so) out of pocket for three items.

Depending on your coupons and the items you purchase, you could be getting a great deal.

I have $8.97 in extra care bucks that will expire on the 23rd, so you can bet I’m going to CVS this week. It’s been almost a month since I’ve been there last.

My plan is to spend about $11 in merchandise (plus coupons). That way, I shouldn’t be paying much out of pocket, since I’ll use a $2 off $10 coupon and my Extra Bucks.

Some deals this week include:

Schick Quattro Disposable Razor-3 ct. $5.99 – $4 manuf. coupon in Sunday’s paper = $1.99 out of pocket, and it will generate $3 ECB.

Buy Crest or Oral-B toothpaste (various varieties listed in the ad), get $1 ECB. Prices start at $2.19 in the flier. Use manufacturer’s coupons if you have them.

Tylenol Vial 10-ct $2.49 - $1printable coupon off any Tylenol product = $1.49 out of pocket, and it will generate $2.49 in extra care bucks.

Playtex Sport $4.99 – $2.50 printable Playtex coupon = $2.49 out of pocket, and it will generate $2 in ECB.

Also, fill out this form for a free sample, which will include 2 regular unscented, 1 super unscented, and a $1 off coupon.

Buy $20 in Excedrin, Bufferin, Doan’s, NoDoz or Ascriptin, get $10 ECB. I’ve seen a few coupons for Excedrin, but unless you use this stuff and are almost out, it’s not a great deal.

Arg. I had a longer post, complete with my shopping list. Word Press ate it. I’ll write about it again once I actually buy the stuff (hopefully Sunday afternoon, if it’s save to drive there).

I just got an e-mail from CVS (Why do I feel like I’m the last one to get it?) that has several printable coupons I’d like to share:

-Free CVS brand tissue

-Save $2 on any Tresseme hair care item. Since this is a store coupon, I do believe that you should be able to use a manuf. coupon, if you have one, as well.

-Save $5 on Energizer Max batteries. The coupon states “limit one per customer,” so that means you can use one of those coupons per day, I believe. My advice: Just get the batteries you need. There’s a deal going on this week that states: “Buy $15 of Energizer Alkaline Batteries, get $5 extra bucks.” The price per pack looks like $5.29 each, according to my ad. If you have any manuf. coupons or find any on the packages, be sure to use those as well.

-Save $5 on Listerine Whitening Strips.

-Buy 1 Trident 8-ct. multipack, get 1 free.

And, of course, use a $2 off $10 coupon if applicable.

I’m not all that excited about this week’s deals at CVS. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough–but there just doesn’t seem to be a ton of extra care bucks deals going on this week.

I haven’t decided if I’ll make the trip to CVS or not, but if I do, I’ll be sure to post about it.

Here’s a deal idea, if you think you’d want a Gillete Fusion Power Razor (has anyone used this? Is it any good? My husband uses an electric shaver, and I don’t know if I’d want to use this on my legs or what).

Buy:

-Gillete Fusion Razor (Regular, Power, ~~or Phantom~~) $9.99 – $4 manuf. coupon (only good on Fusion or Fusion Power) in recent insert (generates $6 ECB)
-CVS Facial Tissue $0.99 on sale, and use this coupon so that it’s free
-Use $2 off $10 purchase coupon

Total out of pocket (assuming you don’t already have extra care bucks to use): $3.99 plus tax

Total ECB earned: $6

Total it would have been without coupons: $10.98 plus tax

CVS Advisor Panel

Awhile back, I told you about the CVS Advisor Panel. I signed up, but hadn’t heard anything from them until now.

I took a quick survey (maybe 5 minutes) and I’ll get $3 extra care bucks after December 14. Woo hoo! As you all know, $3 ECB can be stretched quite a bit.

For that particular survey, if you didn’t fit the survey’s demographic criteria, you would get $1 ECB instead of $3. Not a bad deal for your time, I’d say.

Has anyone else joined the panel? How many surveys have you taken so far?
