The last WVU home game was last night so I think I'm in the clear. (The stadium is right beside the hospital, so similar worries). Hopefully it won't be during a Steelers' game for you! Sounds like the Pens wouldn't be too awful (good thing, since there would be a lot of days to dodge on that one!) We're only 5-10 minutes from the hospital, so I think the biggest negative for me will be deciding how long to wait so I don't have to spend too much of early labor in the hospital.

So here's hoping we all make it to the hospital at the optimal time with minimal stress!

Well, I just read a statistic that more babies are born between 3 and 4 am than any other time... although my first two came at 9 am and 11 pm, but my job in life is to be difficult:) But I have the same concerns- live in the south hills and could get caught in the tunnel on the way to Magee. First two also came very quickly, transition to birth 2-3 hours, each... yeah, so not going to be the lady that delivers in the Fort Pitt Tunnel!!! I am delivering at St Clair, 7 minutes from my house. Had to switch gyno to do it, totally worth the peace of mind.
Best of luck to you, no traffic and a beautiful birth.

Yeah I don't actually think I'll have the baby in the car. Mostly, traffic just stresses me out a lot.

I HATE sitting in traffic. I hate icy roads. I hate road construction. Stress stress stress.

Add that on to trying to safely get to the hospital while in labor...and yeah, ew.

It'll be ok though. Yah?

We live about 30 or 45 minutes from the hospital and I'm not worried. Most "first timers" tend to take a little longer. I know two people in our class have had their babies already and one labored for 24 hours after her water broke and the other one 30 (not sure when her water broke)! I think the average is around 17? Not sure on that, I'd have to look it up. But unless you stay home for a long time I don't think you'll have to worry!!
