Peggy
We bought a van today! YAY! Took a month to find it. Waiting paid off. We got a great value, I think, and if we treat the van well I think we should be able to get lot of years and miles out of her.
Yes, her. And her name is Peggy. Her paint is white so it made me think of a pearl. The name “Margaret” means pearl, and “Peggy” is a nickname for Margaret. The van has a black bug guard thing that looks like a mustache. So Peggy it is.
Peggy joins her sister, Shirley. She is named such, because “surely” we will get to our destination.
Both vehicles have really low miles for their years and are in great shape. We are hopeful that they will last us a long time –possibly even long enough to still have around when it’s time to teach Johnny how to drive.
We bought Peggy using the one-payment plan and I hope it was the right call. We tapped some from our house down payment fund to do so, but we think we can fill it back up pretty soon. Hopefully before we close on a house (still shopping for one of those).
Peggy became available for sale on my birthday. My dad happened to spot the listing on a Chicago-based car sales site and it wasn’t even listed on cars.com for a few days later. I think we inquired about it before anyone else could find it, so we were the first to have a chance to buy it. Lucky us!
