Wow. I’m 25. This is the second birthday in which I have spent pregnant (and in the first trimester!). This is the fourth birthday I’ve spent in Pittsburgh.
Two years ago, I blogged about 23 things I’ve learned since my previous birthday. I think I had some good lessons learned.
If I could add to that, I’d say:
- Babies are not as expensive as some people say! Maybe older kids are more expensive, but so far, they’re cheap. And fun! I’m so glad I’m a mother.
- Sometimes, you realize you can’t afford something (like a house) and you just have to accept that and continue taking steps so that you can get there soon. It’s better to just admit you can’t afford something than to overextend yourself or to spend a lot of money on a house that you don’t even like, but can afford. (Ok so it turns out I learned that lesson before my 24th birthday…but I think it’s worth repeating)
Today I’m going to spend with Johnny and later in the afternoon, a friend is going to come over and we’ll get some ice cream. Shane, Johnny and I will go to a family-friendly restaurant for dinner and maybe I’ll get a free dessert or appetizer or a song.
When I look at my life today, I just consider myself so incredibly blessed. I have a loving husband, a darling son, a baby on the way, a safe place to sleep, healthy food to eat, and I have family and friends who love and care about me.
What more could I possibly want?
