We simply just got him almost to that point and let him settle himself. Of course, when we were out, it meant that he never fell asleep in our arms. I guess you just weigh the trade-offs.

Great resources! We never had our son fall asleep while we held him. Lexi was a great sleeper, Caylee is giving me a hard time though! I hope Johnny does start to sleep good! good naps are great for mommy and baby!

Let me know how you like that book. I've also found that the earlier my kids go to bed the longer they sleep. Since I've started following the guidelines in the book (when my oldest was about the same age as Johnny is now), all three boys (ages 3.5 and twin 21-month olds) have been GREAT sleepers - to bed by 7:30 p.m. and up at 6 a.m. If they go to bed later than that, they still wake up at the same time and are crabby.Hang in there, it does get better! Just remember that bedtimes are for grown-ups - not the kids! :-)

I love the No Cry Sleep Solution.
