I've been a runner for years, but I found that I gradually had to taper off to walking during pregnancy. By about 30 weeks, I had completely stopped running and was walking or using an elliptical machine. I hate to swim, but I have a lot of friends who swore by water aerobics during pregnancy. I've done yoga for years, and although my normal yoga class wasn't much good during pregnancy (too many deep twists, inversions, and abdominal stuff), I loved my prenatal yoga class. Our gym only costs $350/year, and they have monthly memberships. We go to the city rec center, which is subsidized by tax money. It's about half as expensive as the name brand gyms that we checked out when we were looking for one to join, but it has all the same facilities, and lots of great classes. See if your town has a city rec center - you may find that it's much cheaper than most gyms.Frugal Babe's last blog post..No Hybrid For Me

It’s been a month since our baby was born, and I’m loving being able to do my normal exercise routine again. Then you would get what you need for not as much money. Good luck!

Try looking for just a water class you can take without having to join anything. Generally if you go in and tell 'em you're wanting to join and are willing to give them some business, they'll be accommodating, in my experience.

During my 10-week internship I joined a gym, and they personalized a program for me. To be honest, paying something for it has become a motivation to go at least twice a week.As long as you avoid the peak times (around 6 pm on in my experience), the place shouldn't be close to overrun, with kids or otherwise.I did "suspend" my membership through the summer because I will be spending more time outside walking, biking, and hiking and figured I could save some money.

I’m a member of the local Y and get a corporate discount on my membership through my employer; it ends up being $34/month. My city even has a prenatal exercise class! If you're a city resident, it's usually pretty affordable. Plus, you're just paying for the single class, not for access to an entire gym you won't use.I hope you find something that works!

I’ve found that if I only want to take a class and not have the whole gym experience, my city Parks and Rec department is the best option. I will be sure to check with my doctor before I start a workout program.I used to be a runner, but running/walking really doesn't appeal to me right now. But, I want to do something so I don't feel so sluggish.I hope I can find something good soon!

Thanks for commenting, Risha!
