It’s our first wedding anniversary!

May 19th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

Today is our first wedding anniversary! Shane and I were married on May 19, 2007 back home in Indiana.

I’ve scheduled this post to run at 1:30 p.m., when this time last year, our mothers lit candles, my bridesmaids entered the sanctuary to “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” my groom took his position, and my dad escorted me down the aisle, while the organ trumpeted “Prince of Denmark’s March.”

Oh, memories!

I can’t believe how fast this year went. A lot has happened in that time. Being married to Shane is the best! We were together for three and a half years before our wedding, so we already knew each other pretty well. But being married really does bring a couple much closer, and we’re learning more about one another, and loving each other more and more as each day goes by.

As you probably know, we’re spending our anniversary in Florida for his sister’s wedding (which was on the 17th), and I can’t think of a more appropriate way to spend an anniversary. We’ll get to relieve all of our memories from the last-minute planning, the rehearsal dinner, and of course, the wedding by being a part of someone else’s special day. We didn’t save the top of our own wedding cake, but we’ll be able to have a piece of the new bride and groom’s cake.

It’s all the fun that goes with a wedding, but without the stress.

We’ll be able to reminisce and spend time with family. Oh, and jump in the ocean. What’s not to love?

Congratulations, and Happy Anniversary! My hubby and I were also married in Indiana, but it was back in 1996. Where does the time go?! :-)

Congratulations. I remember my wedding well and my first anniversary we spent in the same hotel that we got married in, which was very romantic. However, we are now much more frugal and do not even give each other a card any more but we do have a nice meal together - even though it is home cooked!

Congratulations! You two look so happy. I guess you guys got married right after college? Jordan and I got married IN college, but we’ve never regretted it.

Hope you’re enjoying your anniversary trip! It’s fun to get away. Our 2nd anniversary is in a week & a half, and I’m not sure if we have anything planned… I should get on top of that!
