$1 makeup

May 8th, 2008 at 2:01 pm

UPDATED: Apparantly this isn’t a sale at all–these are regular prices. Probably not worth “stocking up” on. I’d take this post down, but I thought it would be equally useful to say “hey! This isn’t exactly a deal. It’s a semi-scam.”

Thanks, Crystal and Mercedes for letting me know!

My friend Brittany passed this deal along to me. If you need some makeup, maybe you’d want to take a look at this $1 sale.

But remember, it’s only a good deal if you actually need it and will use it! The details:

Nordstrom is changing the logo on their ma keup, so they’re selling everything that says “e.l.f.” for $1! Visit this link to see the products.

The make-up line E.L.F. ( Eyes, Lips, and Face) has been bought out byNordstrom and will be re-packaged with the Nordstrom name on it. They are getting rid of all the make-up in ELF packaging.  They are selling
everything for $1.

Also, if you use the coupon code: CAROLINA you will get $7.50 off your first $15 of your purchase.

$1 is the regular price for this brand of make up!!
Also I wanted to warn, I tried their mascara and I didn’t like it very much. Cheap make up really is cheap make up. Last year I spent $60 buying lots of these make up for my mom to resell. Since then I have been able to acquire better make up (loreal, revlon, maybelline, etc) sometimes for free, other times I got overage and other times I paid very little out of pocket. But it turns out the money I spent on ELF make up was the most I spent, and it was not good value.
Maybe other pieces of their make up are better, lipsticks, gloss, etc.

I was going to say the same thing. ELF makeup has always been $1- not really a good sale. I wonder if Nordstrom is plannig on upping the price?

Well I feel like a goober. Apparantly, Nordstrom isn’t buying this product because it’s lousy.

I don’t buy much makeup ever, and I’m really out of the loop.

Thanks for letting me know so fast!

It’s funny you should mention this because my sister was telling me the exact story last night. How there is this site that had been bought by Nordstrom’s and all the makeup was $1.00. I think it could be a good deal for some people.

I’m with you - don’t wear too much makeup. A little lipstick, maybe mascara or blush if I find the time.

Oh no! i didn’t know that was regular price! i heard about it from my SIL and ordered a bunch of it last week. Oh well, i’ll have new makeup, even if it is crappy, and didn’t spend too much on it. Too bad though. i was really excited about it.

I too fell for this just yesterday. After finding out that it is not associated with Nordstrom, that it is the regular price and that people haven’t had good luck with it, I canceled my order.

The comments are right. Elf’s regular price is $1. I agree that the mascara is horrible and will add the eye shadow to that list, but the makeup brushes are great. The tinted moisturizers are pretty good and the eyeliners are, too, for the price. But in general, buyer beware.

I just wanted to tell you that me and Audrie read your blog and were so excited about what we thought was a super deal. We just assumed that if it was sold at Nordstrom, it would be high quality stuff. We were filling our carts glefullt (she was all the way through “eyes” and halfway through “lips,” while I was browsing the nailpolishes…

Then we read the comments about how this makeup is always $1. We felt totally duped.

I didn’t know so many people didn’t like ELF makeup. I bought some recently (Needed new makeup for my wedding) and I actually like the stuff I got. I got things like lip gloss, eye shadow, mascara, etc. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m pretty happy with everything :)
