Oh, hai, CVS…remember me?

It has been many moons since I last visited CVS (I think it was January or so). I stopped going because I had a big stash, and I thought I’d just limit my drugstore runs to the quick and easy freebies at Rite Aid and Walgreens.

Well, CVS, I’m back! And, I realized how much I’ve missed you.

Today, I bought:

–Venus Embrace razor ($9.99 on sale, used $4 coupon in today’s paper, and got $5 extra care bucks back)

–Aquafresh Extreme toothpaste ($2.99, had $1 off coupon that came in the mail, and got $2.99 ECB)

–Colgate 360 toothbrush ($3.99, had $1 off coupon from last week’s paper, and got $3.99 ECB)

Total before coupons: $16.97. I used a $3 off $15 coupon (see Crystal’s blog post for how you can have one, too!), and $6 in manufacturer’s coupons.

This brought my out-of-pocket total to $8.18 with tax.

I’ve got $11.98 in extra care bucks to use on my next trip, and I plan to roll those babies until they can’t be rolled anymore.

Two things: The CVS closest to my home does a horrible job of putting the sale tags on the correct shelf. You have to really hunt for the correct sale item. Have your weekly/monthly ad in your hand and consult that.

Finally, working those CVS deals lets me buy things for myself that I normally wouldn’t. Were it not for coupons & ECBs, there’s no way I would pay $9.99 for a razor. But, it seems pretty nice, and I’m glad that buying it was a good thing.

  1. i really like that razor, too. i bought it because they were having a similar sale a couple months ago. It is crazy that it has 5 blades, though! i remember my first daisy razor with its unbendable head and 2 blades:) We’ve come a long way baby!

  2. just droppin by to say.. cool site… :)

  3. I went to CVS this weekend for the first time in a long while- I think I’ve decided to get the ECBs I can, and roll them over to keep them from expiring with whatever deals are available, until I actually need something from CVS. I’ve got a bag started with things to donate to a local women’s shelter & food pantry, in the meantime.

  4. You will love that razor. Once you use it you will be hooked.

  5. They are putting a CVS in the town that I work in. I can’t wait to try them out and see how their deals work.

So, for now, Walgreens and Rite Aid it is!
