It’s the first day of spring, and I finally got a new winter coat

March 20th, 2008 at 11:31 am

Last fall, I considered buying a winter coat to replace an old, worn out one I had. I decided I didn’t want to may more than $40 for a nice coat, but I was hoping to find one at a lower price than that.

Originally, I was searching for a wool peacoat.

After searching several stores last September-October and such, I couldn’t find a coat I liked at the price I was willing to pay. I ended up making my own coat last another winter, and that was fine.

Then yesterday, I decided to take a quick look at Marshall’s. They had one coat in stock, I think, and it wasn’t my size.

I walked next door to Old Navy, and there it was! In the middle of the store on a clearance rack, I found a black coat my size.

It wasn’t a wool peacoat, but I decided it didn’t have to be that style.

It’s black, filled with some sort of puffy material, has a removable hood (with fake fur), covers my rear, seems like it’ll be pretty warm…and cost $12.99!

Its original price was $78.

I’m happy with it, and I’m going to wear it outside today to make sure it can withstand temperatures in the 30s (I’m sure it can).

I also bought a light fleece jacket that will keep me warm by itself, or serve as a nice liner for my new winter coat. It was $2.99.

I’ve once again learned that if you aren’t in a huge hurry to buy something, and can wait for it to go on off-season clearance, you can find some fantastic deals!

P.S. If you’re a friend or family member that hasn’t seen me in awhile…no, I did not gain 30 lbs. It’s just a poofy coat. I promise.

Now is a great time to buy winter clothes! Just like the fall is good to buy an air conditioner. As long as you aren’t concerned with needing the newest style you can easily find clothes cheaper than their retail price!
