I have to agree with Lisa about it being like you’ve got girlfriends to talk to, and Paula about having something to reference. I keep mine private from most people I know because I divulge a lot of information, but it’s a wonderfully non-judgmental forum where I can just talk about the things that are on my mind, and know that people will read if they want to, not because they have to listen :)

It can get a little lonely sometimes, but it also brings a warm and fuzzy feeling when blogger friends drop in and say hello or chat.

I love having something to reference back to (oh yeah, I remember reading that or I really wanted to do that and forgot all about it). I also like seeing progress – the progress I am making with keeping my house clean, the progress I am making in the character training of my children, the progress I am making with finances and a frugal life. And I want to leave a legacy for my children. I want them to be able to read my blog, see my struggles and how I overcame. And possibly remember some fun times we had as a family (sometimes, as you get older, it is so easy to forget).

I do agree about it being discouraging not to get any positive feedback though. Even though I am blogging for my family, if two days go by and I have no comments, I do get a little sad and discouraged and think about making my blog private.

i heart blogging because it’s fun to write what happens in my mundane life and have empathetic ears to listen. i can also post pictures and links. i’m also much better at blogging than i am writing in a journal, and see myself in 50 years looking back on my thoughts and feelings and memories and being glad they were written in a medium not subject to being forgotten in moving boxes or accidentally thrown into the fire by a 3-year-old:)
The blogging community is so great, too. i feel like i have many friends who i get to know every day all over the country. Not being an extravert, i enjoy getting to know others on my own time without awkward phone conversations or my kid hitting their kid.

For me it’s like having girlfriends nearby to talk to! I have enjoyed your blog and will keep reading. It does keep me focused on trying to plan my money–a subject I hate. I have found a couple of other blogs thru yours that I enjoy as well.

Oh, you are so right! I can totally relate to your recent posts! I recently became a stay-at-home mom, and started my Northern Cheapskate blog to keep my brain sharp. (I also have a newspaper background!) I wanted to do something that made me more than just being a mom. And I wanted to motivate people. It’s been a great experience so far, but sometimes it is challenging to come up with fresh material. I think you are doing a great job and you help me keep going! Thanks!
