I totally understand the feeling. Coming back to my feed reader after being sick and away for a couple weeks was sort of daunting, with some blogs racking up 50+ unread posts! I'll still be checking in here, and hope to see you over at my blog occasionally. Enjoy your blog free weekends! :)

I can totally relate. And I completely understand how sometimes blogging does feel like a job. It's good to take a breather every once in awhile. You put so much time and effort into this...I would have burned out long ago!

I totally understand your thoughts (as you know)! :-) I think for me the big thing was making the decision to stop reading some blogs. I realized that if a blog made me angry or upset, then it wasn't worth my time to keep reading it. Or if I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over... I actually unsubscribed from a lot of frugal/finance related blogs (except yours! :-)) because I thought I could get the same amount of encouragement and ideas from just a few blogs! I am with you in feeling stressed with unread items in my Google Reader - that's one reason why I'm not a huge fan of Google's "share" option. I don't need any more posts to read!! :-) I hope you find a balance and feel satisfied in your time blogging. :-)

Aww...thanks, everyone! You're all so kind :)

This kindness and support from people like you, that's one of the best parts of having a blog.

I love it!

I'm going through a similar phase myself, I understand. :) I'm sure you'll still have a tremendous output on the blog!

One thing I'd suggest for the reader is periodically saying "Screw it all!" and marking all as read. Every 2 days, perhaps. That way your backlog slows down.

Go you for realizing your need to scale back. I think that such an action is its own "sense to save." :)

I can't believe you subscribed to so many blogs!! I thought my 45 was a lot, but you were trying to contribute to a ton! By all means, scale back, girl! :)

I think that you have made a very good decision. I enjoy reading your blog and appreciate that fact that you visit mine.

I think that blogging should be fun and at one point mine became a chore. I had become addicted to the numbers myself. I felt obligated to keep new content on my blog daily. But then I resorted back the reason that I began my blog, which was to share my homeschooling and homemaking experiences. Once I did that the weight and burden began to fall off.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Blogging can definitely get overwhelming, and you have to find the right balance, so blogging doesn't take over your life.

I hope that by cutting back, you can strike that balance.
