Creampuffs are a cheap and surprisingly easy to make dessert

This weekend, I decided to make some creampuffs. This was the second time in my life that I tried to make them, and both attempts went well.

Though they look intimidating to make, they’re actually quite easy and delicious. I used this recipe to make them, and then I filled them with instant vanilla pudding. I think any flavor of pudding would be delicious, or whipped cream, fruit, or even a more savory type of food inside would probably be really good.

Eaten alone, the creampuffs do have an eggy flavor. When there’s a filling, it doesn’t seem as strong.

If you like creampuffs, consider making them when you’d like a low-cost but fancy dessert!

Ingredients:

1/2 c butter (I used margarine) $0.14

1c water $0

1/4 t salt

4 eggs ($0.63, if you got $1.89 eggs/doz.)

1 c flour $0.05

Total: $0.82 for about 12 cream puffs

The pudding mix I used cost .25, and I had to use 2 cups of milk (I used reconstituted powedered milk and it worked fine) $0.32 so $0.57 for the pudding, and $1.39 for the puffs and the pudding.

Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top, and you’re all set!
