Flight update

January 18th, 2008 at 8:00 am

I checked to see how much the flight we booked for our trip to my sister-in-law’s wedding in Florida would have cost if we waited to buy it now.

The exact flight is now $20 more per ticket than we paid less than one week ago.

That comes to $40 more for two tickets.

Also, according to Kayak.com, it’s still the cheapest flight available.

I’m glad I bought them when I did!

Now, if we can just get our condo/vacation rental booked…it’s sort of hard to coordinate travel plans with a group of my in-laws. Keep your fingers crossed we can get a good deal!

Have you looked into the airport shuttle vs. parking at the airport? I can’t recall the name of the service. When I compared, parking was cheaper but we’re further away from the airport than you are. There are also additional places to park other than the airport itself. We used on before (Charlie Brown’s) because I found a coupon that made it less costly. Good luck! Judy

Yup, it’s going to be a better deal for us to drive and park rather than take a shuttle or cab.

There are coupons in my Entertainment Book, and there are others online too, so I think we should be able to get a better deal.

I’ve been reading “Super Crunchers” by Ian Ayres and in it he talks a little about Farecast.com, which predicts whether airfare goes up or down and even gives you a precise probability about their prediction. I haven’t tried it, but it sounds great in the book! It would be interesting to see how their results compare with the searching that you’re doing.
