BBC #2 roundup

January 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pm

This week, I challenged you to select a budgeting system and put it to work. If you already had a budget up and running, I asked you to tell us about it.

Here’s a roundup of what some of the participants of Better Budget Challenge # 2 had to say.

20 Something Lady uses Mvelopes

S.B. at Be Thrifty Like Us uses her own spreadsheet to budget.

LJ at Mommy Gets Paid condensed challenges #1 and #2, and told us she uses Microsoft Money.

Melissa uses “My Budget Planner” (sorry for the error, Melissa!)

A had previously used Pear Budget, but accidentally uh, cooked the pears. So to speak. Check his post to see what I mean. Now, he uses a homemade spreadsheet.

PaidTwice also uses Pear Budget. She details how her system works, and it looks like it works really well for her.

Tenille uses recycled paper and writes her budget out by hand.

Ana has a similar tech-free approach: her family uses a dry erase board.

Alison uses a combination of Quicken and a spreadsheet.

I’m using Mint right now.

So, you see there’s quite a bit of variety even in this small group. I found it interesting to read what everyone had to say. Everyone budgets slightly (or drastically) different from the next person, but it all works for the individual. Isn’t that what matters most? Yes.

Thanks for participating, everyone! I’ve found some blogs I haven’t seen before, which is always fun.

Challenge # 3 will be up at 12:00 a.m. Monday. I’m really excited about this one, and hope lots more of you will participate.

Hi Kacie. I love your blog! It inspired me to start one. Is it too late for me to blog about your challenge? I’m just getting started.

Thanks, Leone
