Ask for a discount at UPS
…and they just might give it to you.
I was shipping two boxes, one was large and they charged $10. Fine. I had a small box and they wanted to charge $9. I started to protest, “$9 to send that? It’s so small! I’m tempted to take it to the post office.”
Those were the magic words, I guess. He said he’d match the price, bringing it to $3. Much better.
If you’re shipping packages, you might ask them to match the lowest rate. They might or might not, but it can’t hurt to ask!

I use USPS for everything… but I’m biased, as I’m a postman’s daughter. :-)
But they really are cheaper for the speed you get — unless you need overnight, and then FedEx is awesome.
But good for you for mentioning that you’d take your business elsewhere in such a polite way! I’m glad it paid off!
