Submit your favorite frugal tips!

November 29th, 2007 at 11:40 pm

Remember how many great tips you all submitted when I gave away a copy of The Complete Tightwad Gazette?

I loved those tips, and I know many of you did, too. I wanted a way for you all to submit your favorite frugal tips in a way that can be a more permanent part of this site.

In my left sidebar, you’ll see a box just below the Google search called “Readers’ Tips.”

As time goes on and you all start submitting your tips (please do it!) it will be a fun resource for us all.

Plus, if people really like your tip, they can comment on it or even visit your own blog.

If you’d like to view more tips, refresh your page for a random tip, or go to the “Reader Tips” category below to click through them.

I’m going to start going through those 342ish tips from that post and adding some of my favorites to the “Readers’ Tips.”

Please go ahead and start submitting your favorite ideas!

By the way, my husband figured out how to make this widget work–I have no idea so don’t ask :) If you’re having trouble with it, please let me know.

***Just a reminder: Submit your tip to the box on the left…NOT in the comments below. I’ll post the ones that are here already.

What a great idea!

My favorite frugal tip is…

Don’t buy all purpose cleaning spray! Use a mixture of vinegar and lemon juice in a spray bottle. Then spray what needs to be cleaned and wipe it down with an old washcloth.

This is completely safe around children, pets, etc…you could drink it if you wanted to, but I wouldn’t :)

My current post features frugal dishwasher detergent and rinse agent. I also use the “rinse agent” aka white vinegar for fabric softener [and see that I FORGOT to put this in the post!!!] It doesn’t help with static cling–just softens. I still use a little bit of a drier sheet for static.

Big Lots Stores (also called Odd Lots)!! Scour the grocery isles. I’ve gotten everything 69cent Chef B Dee pasta [a bargain in our area] for my kids to all kinds of other stuff–exotics like wonderful canned mango [they are begging for this--wish a store carried it here] to cereal [a treat] and other stuff! Check it out!
