Great post. I had gestational diabetes and could have definitely used this item. Check out the local Human Services or WIC offices too, they are always looking for donations.

What a generous post. I'm glad to see people are so willing to donate. It is a problem with organizations not being able to take what they perceive as "used" devices, but surely a friend of a friend knows someone who could use it.

Keep up the good work!

You might also check with OB/GYN's, especially Medicaid clinics. Women with gestational diabetes need to check their sugars, but because it is not a permanent condition many times insurance won't pick up the tab.

Kacie,

I wanted to bring up that you may want to contact the American Diabetes Society. They may wish to take it. Also, contact your church, if they do mission trips to third world countries they may find freebies like this very useful. Finally, if you do end up donating make sure you get a receipt from the place you are donating it too. If you itemize you may want to claim this donation and save even more!

The problem with donating it I've found (I am diabetic)is that most places won't take it, even if it's not been used since it could have have been used with human blood. :( (And yes, I even specified that I had never even used it when I was trying to find a place to give it). Luckily I was able to use it at work (I worked at a Vet) but they are had to "get rid of" because of the contamination risk. :(
