Q & A with Kacie

Hi friends!

I’ve been struggling to come up with blog posts lately, and I’m wondering if you’d help me out. In the comments below, or in an e-mail (, would you mind giving me some ideas?

-What would you like me to blog about in the coming weeks?
-What topics am I neglecting?
-What would you like to know about me?

I got this idea from Crystal, who asked readers for questions, and got a great response. She says she got the idea from Shannon.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Kacie,
I love your blog and read it everyday. I am a fellow Pittsburgher and was wondering……
What “frugal” practices do you apply when clothes shopping? I have the food budget down..thanks to you; but clothes are so expensive.

  2. Hi Kacie. I love your blog! I’m new to the frugal life and have tried to do a budget a couple times but can’t seem to get it down. I do the basics (house, car, insurance, etc.) but don’t know how much to budget for other things. Any advise you have would be great. Do you have a written budget or use a computer program? etc. etc.

I’m also interested in frugal, clutter free Christmas gifts to make or buy. Any suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

  3. Hey kacie!

    Another idea:

I read this article, thought it was very interesting. Maybe this and the other additional articles will stimulate your creativity?

  4. HI, Kacie, I just stumbled across a link to your blog from orgjunkie (the Menu Plan Mondays post) and I am enjoying reading your blog. I am very impressed with how you are saving money at the drugstores. My question is, how do you do it? Do you pay for a subscription to the Grocery Game, or are you able to figure it all out yourself? If you do it yourself, how much time does it take you each week to study the weekly circulars and find these great deals? I seldom go to stores like Walgreens but if I can find deals like you do, I will go more often. Do you do anything like this for Walmart or Target? Thanks for any advice!

  5. Yay! Thanks for the suggestions. I’m going to get started on some right now. Keep ’em coming!

  6. Hi, I just found your blog, and I really like it. My husband was very impressed when I shared your meal plan with him. We menu plan, but still spend much more than you do. I’m setting a goal for myself to lower the grocery costs.

As for what I’d like to see in your blog, in addition to everything that’s here already, I’m very interested in your freelance writing work. What do you write? Where do you find the work? What’s the best way someone could start doing freelance writing?

I’ve recently moved and have had to give up my part-time job. I don’t want to work full-time, since I’m a homemaker first, and won’t be able to find a similar part-time job because we don’t have a second car, and one would be necessary where we’re going. So you can see that working from home with part-time freelancing would be ideal for me, especially since I have an English/Communications degree. I’d absolutely love any advice you could give, and it would be so appreciated! Thank you.

  7. I like your blog overall, but my favorite is the way you describe your menu and price out the costs. I’m actually using that as a template, for our meals.

Someone asked about frugal low-clutter gifts. I make food items such as Gift-in-a-jar or homemade spice mixtures (eat the food, recycle/reuse the jar). This year I’m also making sachets for closets & drawers with about 1 Tbsp lavender. The sachets are made from supplies I already have – fabric scraps and the like. Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm Kacie, wife and mother of 3. I write about my family's finance: how we save money, improve our spending, and plan for the future.

I hope I can inspire and encourage you to improve your situation. See disclosure.

I'm adopting a much slower-paced posting schedule, and treating this as a hobby blog now.
