Hooray for Aldi and a nice man with a quarter
Last week, I had about $5 left of my grocery budget to spend. I thought about going to Aldi, then I decided it could wait until this week.
Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Aldi I go…
and I forgot a quarter for the cart. I searched under rugs in my car, every crevice and even looked on the ground in the parking lot a little bit. I had .15. Bah!
A very nice man saw that I had no cart, and he offered me a quarter. I tried to give him my .15, but he wouldn’t take it. Hooray for that guy!
I really needed that cart, too, because I bought a ton of stuff:
- 3-pack green peppers $1.69
- 4-pack cucumbers .99
- Bag carrots .99
- 8 oz. chunk mozzarella $1.79
- Romaine hearts 1.69
- “Pillow pack pepper” (pepperoni) $1.69
- Pancake mix $1.19
- Flour tortillas .79
- 2 Pineapple .69 each
- 2 mandarin oranges .45
- Sloppy Joe sauce .69
- 2 Refried beans .49
- 2 Apple Juice 1.19 each
- Refrigerated biscuit .27
- 2 cans corn .39

- Penne pasta .69
- Diced tomatoes with chilis . 49
- 2 canned mushrooms .49
- 2 cans chili beans .39

- 4 margarine sticks .59

When I was finished, I wheeled my cart to the corral. Nobody was coming, so there was nobody to give my cart to. I just left the quarter in the slot for someone else to use. I hope they’ll pass it on.
And, next time I go to Aldi, I’ll be sure to take two quarters–one for me and one for someone who forgot theirs.

Could it be pepperoni by any chance? I was recently confused by the way my pepperoni appeared on my shopping receipt!
