Our wedding: Accessories

October 23rd, 2007 at 8:05 pm

I didn’t want to spend much on things like my veil or shoes. I wanted my shoes to be flat and comfortable, since people probably wouldn’t be seeing them anyway. I found white satiny ballet flat slippers for $6.

I bought my veil on eBay for $17 including shipping. I now realize that I probably could have found one at Hobby Lobby for a few dollars less, and I’d suggest looking at the premade ones at craft stores first. Can you believe that veils can sell at bridal shops for $100+?

My little garter came from Hobby Lobby as well, during one of their 50 percent off sales. It was like a dollar or so.

My jewelry was my “something borrowed.” I wore my grandmother’s pearl earrings and necklace. Before those arrived, I wore borrowed diamond earrings so my ears would be pretty for pictures :)

I can’t believe the cost of your accessories. Now, that’s frugal. That is awesome.

My bestfriend wore a $200 shoes on her wedding that she eventually ditched during the reception. That was a big waste.

Probably like most brides-to-be, I thought the only good place to get a veil is the bridal stores. I have seen plenty of pretty ones elsewhere though, such as Hobby Lobby! There’s no way I’m paying what my sister did for her veil!

Oh, and I got pretty shoes from Wal-Mart for $5 last week! I’m so excited about that lol

I am wearing my mother’s beautiful wedding gown (which luckily will not need major alterations) and my great-grandmother’s jewelry.

My question is if you could recommend frugal places or tips regarding ring buying. My fiancé and I both want simple white gold or platinum (him only) bands with no diamonds, no engraving. Thanks!

i bought a Swarovski crystal tiara and veil for $150 each. i wore $300 on my head for my wedding. was it outrageously expensive? yes. would i change it? no. i love them and hope to pass them down to a daughter or even my sister(s) when they get married. my shoes were probably $25 or so, and my jewelry was $30 (i think) and it was earrings and a necklace that came in a set from the bridal shop. garter was from walmart :)
